Florida State Seminoles (+9.5) vs Oregon Ducks (-9.5)
Well, it has been awhile Spor Repor fans (I’ve yet to come up with a nickname for you so if you have any ideas, let me know whenever). I’m currently in Los Angeles with my family on a vacation masked as a last ditch effort by my mother to try and keep me a child forever by dragging me through the wonder world of Disneyland. Therefore, I have been away from my laptop since Christmas and prior to that, I was too lazy to write any of these in advance even though I had full ability to do so.
Anyways, I think I remember how to pick games so here I go. Oregon and Florida State will be facing off in the first College Football Playoff semifinal game today with Alabama and Ohio State in New Orleans to play the remaining semifinal game after this one has concluded. The game features the past two Heisman Trophy winners in quarterbacks Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston. The game is being played in the granddaddy of them all at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. It’s not too cold. What more could you ask for.
The bookies have Oregon winning in a landslide with nearly a 10-point margin of victory which on the surface is surprising considering that Florida State is the reigning national champion and hasn’t lost a single game the past two seasons. However, the Ducks are the Ducks and have Mariota under the helm who can put points on the board at a blistering pace through the air or on the ground with his webbed feet. Florida State throughout this season has played in games that, let’s face it, a Top 5 should’ve easily won in a blowout rather than relying on a 4th quarter comeback or having to play all four quarters period.
Therefore, Oregon will win today’s game as they are a beast Florida State and Winston have not seen this season and will barely squeak out with a 10-point victory to cover. Plus, I here Dallas is nice in early January and the first two weeks of class are always so boring and slow.
